The Westminster Lions held their meeting and invited three speakers.
First VDG Susan Cox spoke about the "Roar Like a Lion" event that will be held at the Carroll County
Library on Saturday, April 6th. Lion Susan also spoke about how pleased she was with our food donation
of 123 items to the Carroll Community College Food Locker. She also congratulated us for stepping up to
the Childhood Cancer Challenge by donating 76 toys.
Lion Tom Harney from Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club spoke to us about diabetes. He told us about a
book titled "Diabetes Reference Guide" and read us several passages from it. He was quite informative.
Their club is having a fund-raising dance on Saturday, May 4th.
Our next speaker was Ash Stein. He is a 10th grader from Westminster High School. He has had a rough
life and became interested in music at a young age. He plays several instruments, including the cello and
tenor sax. He also plays in the Jazz Band. He has been chosen as a "Gold Tour Ambassador." The school
is sending this group to Europe from July 2nd to July 22nd, where he will play in 5 different countries. He
is trying to raise $7,000 to be able to do this. He is going to different clubs trying to get donations. He is
being raised by his grandparents, who are interested in joining our club. To learn more about American
Music Abroad or to send a donation to Ash, see HERE (There is a QR code for each item).
