This was the night of the Leader Dog Banquet. The Westminster Lions presented their donation to our speaker.

The guest of honor was Joey Johnson and Leader Dog Tucker. Joey was diagnosed with Retina Pigmentosa at the age of 30. He disregarded his balance issues and difficulties of nighttime driving. However, after many car accidents, he gave up the keys to his car and lost his job. He decided against using a white cane and chose to get a Leader Dog. Leader Dogs for the Blind paid for everything. He applied for a for a dog and took a survey to match him with the appropriate dog. This process could take 18 months to 2 years. However, he was lucky and got Tucker in 8 weeks. Joey holds the position of Lions Club Zone Chair for District 18N in Georgia. (Taken from a report on the banquets in the May issue of the District 22W Newsletter.)
